Deep in the heart of the forest, in one of the smallest towns in Sweden, modern manufacturing methods go hand in hand with a century-old Sm\u00e5land tradition of sustainable wood processing. Because something we take very seriously is nurturing the forest that we depend on for raw materials. And also continuing to supply high quality Swedish timber in different forms to skilled professionals and eager hobby carpenters. Today we export our products to some 15 countries around the world. Our roots<\/h1>\n

ESS-ENN was established in 1981 and developed over the next decades into one of the major Swedish producers of edge glued panels, as well as sawn and planed wood. ESS-ENN Timber was acquired by JOOL Invest AB in 2008 after the company had been through a number of difficult years. The new owners subsequently carried out a successful turn-around and have continued to modernise the production facilities and improve the profitability of the company.<\/p>\n

Jool Invest\u2019s philosophy is to be an active owner with a long-term horizon \u2013 developing companies through common sense and entrepreneurial spirit. <\/span>Our roots are set in the lush forests of Sweden\u2019s Sm\u00e5land region, but our branches reach all corners of the world. <\/span>With a strict environmental policy and a circular mindset through all production stages, we want to set a new standard for the wood industry \u2013 on a local as well as a global level.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am the site manager and responsible for the financial side.<\/p>\n

Describe a typical working day?<\/strong>
My days are full of a wide range of tasks, so I don’t know if I have a \u201ctypical\u201d day. Bookkeeping, meetings, working environment matters, talking to employees, improvement work, strategies, statistics, etc.<\/p>\n

What is the most exciting thing about your job?<\/strong>
Thinking about the future. How much can we grow? How much better can we be?<\/p>\n

What strengths do you bring to your leadership?\u00a0<\/strong>
I am relatively new to the role of site manager, but would say I am straightforward, clear and able to admit when I am wrong.<\/p>\n

How do you support your employees in their development?<\/strong>
By listening, lifting and encouraging.<\/p>\n

What are you most proud of in your sustainability work?<\/strong>

What do you do when you\u2019re not working?<\/strong>\u00a0
I work out, travel, socialise with family and friends. My friends call me a \u2018praline nerd\u2019, I guess praline chocolates is a leisure interest of mine. I do not make my own but follow many \u2018praline\u2019 accounts on Instagram, order home and hold tastings with a\u00a0 <\/span>friend. Treat yourself to a praline for SEK 20 and you\u2019ll understand what I mean.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I took a 3-year course in wood engineering at Kungsmadsskolan in V\u00e4xj\u00f6.<\/p>\n

What brought you to ESS-ENN?\u00a0<\/strong>
After finishing school, I got onto a training programme run by ESS-ENN that lasted about one year and that ultimately resulted in a job offer.<\/p>\n

How long have you been here?<\/strong>
I have worked at ESS-ENN for 23 years.<\/p>\n

What is your role at ESS-ENN?<\/b>
I work 2-shifts in the factory. My main tasks is sorting and inspecting.<\/p>\n

Describe a typical working day?<\/strong>
On a typical day at work I sort the laminates into different qualities. I also work in inspection where we look for damaged laminate boards.<\/p>\n

Do you benefit from your past experience in your current job?<\/strong>
I can certainly benefit from my past experience. I have wood experience. I know the different types of wood and know what to sort out.<\/p>\n
